There are various paid and volunteer positions available. Residence Staff applications open on December 6, and close on January 8, 2020. Residents may also apply for Residents’ Council positions and applications open in January.

Sending Mail to Residence
Sending mail to residence
Our residence front desks provide a variety of services to students, so when you’re sending mail be sure to use the correct address. When mail arrives, our front desk looks up your student in our system, so address the mail using the same name your student used in the myHousing Portal. Also, keep in mind that when the front desk receives a package that requires proof of age of majority (19+) or cash on delivery, as a policy, these packages are not processed and are returned to the sender. All residence buildings have different mailing addresses, so make sure you include all of the information needed for speedy delivery!

Upper-year residence applications
Upper-Year Residence Applications are Open Now
Convenience aside, there are still so many perks for your student to continue living on campus in their upper years. Applications are open now via the myHousing Portal, so encourage your student to apply now, as the buildings can fill up fast! The process to apply is different from their first year and offers more flexibility. Students can select their residence, on a first-come first-served basis, until the buildings are full. They are also guaranteed a single room, whether they live in one of the seven first-year buildings, or one of our exclusive upper-year buildings. Are they not sure what building to choose? Tours are available!

Winter Break Residence Closure
If residents haven’t been granted an extended stay or made official arrangements to stay in residence over the winter closure period, they will be expected to vacate their room 24 hours after their last exam, or by December 20 at 12:00 p.m. noon (whichever comes first). Students have received personalized emails, notifying them of their break move-out date and time. All residence front desks, with the exception of Ontario Hall, will close for the break on December 20, and only those students who have arranged to stay over the winter closure period will have access to their building. Dining Halls will be closed during the break, and residence reopens on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at 8:30 a.m.

Alert WesternU

Alert WesternU, powered by Everbridge, is Western’s emergency mass notification system. All Western students with a current email address are automatically enrolled in the system. It issues important safety messages in the event of a campus-wide emergency. Western will also engage the system to share class cancellations, and/or campus disruptions due to extreme weather. Students had the option to add a cell phone number to their Alert WesternU account in Residence Onboarding Process before moving into residence. You can also encourage your student to add an additional mobile number to text a parent or guardian, with instructions here.
